There are several causes of cancer. This is a very complex process but can be simplified choices in life, chronic inflammation, infection and genes. Lifestyles though are the most important predictors of disease risk, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, stroke and cancer.

What you eat, drink or smoke are essential for the type of disease you suffer from. Similarly, no physical activities can make your health very poor and prone to cancer or susceptible to various health problems.

Smoking is the most common cause of cancer. It is associated with many cancers, including cancers of the mouth, head and neck as well as the esophagus, stomach and the lungs.

The World Health Organization (WHO) warned the public in February 2008 that a billion people worldwide could die from tobacco-related causes unless urgent measures are taken. Smoking is responsible for 30% of all cancers. One type of cancer by smoking is lung cancer which is one of the deadliest types of cancer in America nowadays.

Smoking not only causes cancer. It is also responsible for some bad effects of smoking on the organs and other body systems - making it weak and prone to sickness. It can also harm people who can inhale smoke which is why they are called "second-hand-smokers". It is also dangerous for pregnant women to possibly inhale smoke. It can also bring a defect to the baby conceived.

Cancer can also be inherited. It may be in the genes of your family or close relatives. If there is a member of your immediate family who is detected with cancer, your family should be aware of this problem. Cancer is a serious condition that can be fought when detected early. If it runs in your family, all the more that you should observe yourself for the slightest indication of the condition.

One major reason for the deadly disease known as cancer is the pile of toxins and toxic damage that your body consumes. The source of these toxins can be external and internal. You are exposed to two poison factors - internally and externally. Toxins are created from natural body metabolism. External factors that increase the toxins are many, ranging from the food we intake, the air we breathe and the water we drink to various infections.

Your body is exposed to a wide range of external carcinogens per day. Benzoprene examples found in cigarette smoke, lead and gasoline vapors in industrial and vehicle emissions as well as pesticides, herbicides and hormones that infiltrate our food chain.

Your body has a natural mechanism to fight this toxic free radical damage but many people failed in defense. Cancer is an indication that the process of cleaning the toxins in your body has failed. This is a long and slow process. One of the best practices is getting rid of processed foods. Eating a balanced diet and avoiding an unhealthy lifestyle can also help you prevent certain cancers.
