Family Time: How you can give your family the gift of time this Christmas - Family

What if I told you there was a very simple way you could spend more time with your family starting this Christmas? What if I told you it wouldn't cost you a cent? What if I told you there was a simple way to get up to four extra hours every day with your loved ones? Would your family benefit from this extra time?

All you have to do is get rid of your TV.

"WOAH! WAIT A MINUTE! I CAN'T POSSIBLY GIVE UP MY TV!" you cry. NOT MY SOAPS! NOT FOOTBALL! NOT DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES! NOT..."

Well, I didn't say you wouldn't have to sacrifice a little. But by the end of this article you will see that the benefits of giving up your TV far outweigh the costs. It may seem like a difficult task, but it is not really. It just takes a little discipline and creativity to fill the time.

Join many other families who have given up TV

Many families have given up TV. My family did it. Madonna's family did it. I felt so strongly about my decision I created a website about it. That is also why I am reaching out to you now. So you and your family can experience the benefits. Trust me, your family can function without a TV too and be happier and healthier to boot.

Would you rather miss time with your family or time watching TV?

I realize that this still might be a scary prospect for many. The average person watches four hours a day and the average family has the TV on for over seven hours a day. It can be a significant change. However, think what you are giving up with your family when you spend this much time in front of the TV. Think about what your family's life might be like without TV to get a better picture of what you and your family are missing.

Breakfast without TV

When everyone is in a hurry to get to school or work, morning can become very hectic. I know. TV only adds to the distraction. If there is no TV blaring children are more likely to cooperate in getting ready. There may even be time for an old-fashioned family breakfast. At least your family will have more time for pleasant good-byes as they all start their day.

After School without TV

Instead of after school cartoons, which are often filled with violence, send kids outside to play. Kids need to play. They are so much happier when they have a chance to run around and burn off energy. And parents need to play too. Join your kids in a game of soccer or basketball. Go for a walk around the neighborhood. Go for a family bike ride. The possibilities are endless. Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. You can even drag some friends away from their TV's, gameboys, and computers and all play together. With all that exercise, you and your family should build up quite an appetite, don't you think?

Dinner without TV

After so much fun and exercise your family will be ready for a healthy dinner. Remember, they haven't been watching TV commercials for Crunchy Tasty Pops and other junk food. So, don't spoil this time by turning on the TV like over half of all families do. Eat together and talk about your day. Connect with one another and discuss any problems or concerns that may have come up during the day. When you know what problems your children are facing you can better nip them in the bud. Then, you can plan all the fun activities your family will do the next weekend.

Chores without TV

Now imagine your family finishing dinner and cleaning up together. Ok, I realize chores aren't the most popular or enjoyable family activity. And you may not wish to mention chores when you are selling this "Family Time" plan to the rest of your family. But just imagine how much easier it will be to get everyone to pitch in when the TV is OFF.

Prime Time without TV

After a healthy dinner and chores is a "prime time" for families to connect with some fun activities. Depending on your family, this time could be either laid back or exciting. You could play board games, do puzzles, read, or cuddle for a more laid back evening. Or you could dance, have pillow fights, or even have ticklefests for fun and excitement. You could even go for an evening walk and look at all the strange glows coming from other houses where the families are staring at their TVs like zombies.

Late night without TV

Once the kids are in bed, you and your spouse will have a perfect chance to connect. I don't think I need to paint a picture about what that time might be like. You can use your own imagination. But after going this far without watching TV I would hope you wouldn't turn it on at this point!

Then, naturally, after such a great, fun-filled day you will be ready AND have time for a full night's sleep.

Your Family without TV

Now, do you think your family might be happier with the above routine? Think they might grow healthier over time? Each family is different. What routine your family settles on will probably be a little different. My family's routine doesn't quite match up with the above, especially when it comes to chores, but we have a lot more time to connect and the kids do play outside often.

Use your imagination to develop a routine tailored for YOUR FAMILY. Then you will be ready to give your family the gift of quality family time this Christmas. Next Chrismas you will wonder how families find the time to watch TV.

Three Simple Tips For A Healthy And Happier Family - Family

What is family? Check any dictionary and you'll define family as a group of persons sharing common ancestry. But a family is so much more than a simple biological relation to another person. A family can also be two or more people who share goals and values and have long-term commitments to one another.

At its core, a family is a social group that must be nurtured and maintained in order to grow and thrive. As with all social groups, communication and interaction in the form of a communal gathering are integral to survival.

The concept of the family gathering has been in existence for millennia. It's not a modern creation but rooted in the traditions and histories of our own particular cultures and ancestry. A family gathering, whether it's a daily shared meal, a special gathering over the holidays or Sunday visits with grandparents, has an impact on the development of our family units and us as individuals within the unit.

Family gatherings are the cornerstone of successful and happy families and we all need to work to include communal activities as part of our daily family routine. The gathering does not have to be a formal affair that includes every cousin, Aunt or Uncle you have. A simple meal together with your immediate family unit can provide a vehicle for communication that otherwise may not get to be expressed.

Let's gather at Oliver's home:

Oliver, at ten, is the oldest of three children. He has a 4-year old sister and a 5-year old brother. Oliver is a warm and friendly child with a gentle nature. Never one to antagonize his peers, Oliver has become increasingly aggressive and confrontational with his peers. Over a six month period, Oliver's behavior has deteriorated to the point where he became isolated from his peers - his play dates have virtually disappeared and he spends most of his weekends sitting in front of his Nintendo playing by himself, rather than engaging in activities with his siblings. Both Mom and Dad noticed a change in his behavior yet attempts to discuss the matter with Oliver were met with "I don't know" replies.

When Oliver's deteriorating behavior began to translate to his school work, Mom and Dad's anxiety over the welfare of their child reached critical levels and they sought help.

Through individual and group sessions, it was discovered that a vital piece of the family dynamic was missing from the portrait. With a young and growing family, Dad works until 7-8 pm each evening. Mom usually has dinner on the table @ 6pm but does not dine with them, preferring to wait until her husband returns. Due to Dad's hours, Dad rarely has dinner with his family. In fact, they almost never had a meal as a family.

Oliver is at a critical stage in his development when he will slowly explore his independence from his family. It is important that the comfort of home and the closeness of the family continue to engage Oliver and provide him with guidance and direction as he moves into his teenage years.

Oliver's deteriorating behavior is a warning signal that he is reacting to a family unit that he was not particularly connected to and that he was losing interest and direction.

To re-engage Oliver in the family, Mom and Dad began a regular family meal each evening, allowing that time to be a place where all could vent and discuss the events of their day and any other issues etc that they felt they needed to share. Not only did the regular meals allow Oliver the opportunity to share his life, it also allowed him to make his parents aware of homework challenges and together they worked to clarify difficult concepts and engaged in extra practice homework.

Having a supportive and loving forum that all members of the family had a lasting impact - deepening their relationships and increasing their self-confidence.

Here are three simple tips you can use today to increase Family Happiness:

1. Assess - Take a look at your family know each ones strengths/weakness

2. Connect - Be aware of how connected your family is to each other

3. Construct - A forum for your family to share feelings and issues on a regular basis

Low Cost Vacations And Family Values - Family

The family vacation is a tradition intended to bring families closer together and one that many of us would just not think of giving up. Quality time for the family reinforces the importance of family values. It's sort of a "time out" from the day to day routine of living and growing. A chance to focus on getting to know better those that are most important to us, our family. Of course, how much importance you place on this event depends on your past experiences.

In today's fast paced society a vacation just isn't a vacation unless its costing you a small fortune to get to, and stay at, some exotic venue that usually offers no excitement without dishing out more money. I suggest we put on the brakes and get back to basics. You surely won't have a better opportunity to do so than on the family vacation.

Let's not forget that the "family" extends beyond our home life. Most of us have family that we rarely get to spend time with either because of distance or time issues. But, one should always make time for family. Right? I knew you would agree!

Not trying to make you feel guilty here but, we do have a way of letting life rush us through the years. I call it "non-intentional neglect" and most of us are guilty of it at some point in our lives. So, let's re-invent the family vacation to include some real quality time that reinforces the value of our families.

Would you consider a visit to grandparents, distant uncles, or a friend's home a vacation? When I was growing up, the family vacation usually meant visiting family members who lived some distance away. Coming from a family of limited finances, this tradition was budget friendly yet, was sufficient to satisfy our need to escape the norms of home life.

Of course, as the teen age years approached, it became harder and harder for my mom to convince us that "we would have a good time" visiting the relatives. Some of which we had already spent several vacations visiting and had, I guess, lost their uniqueness to us as teenagers.

That said, if any of you can figure out what makes a teenager happy, except socializing with their own peers, then congrats! Let me know your secret. All kidding aside, I believe that they still enjoy the family outings but have a strong resistance to acknowledging that they are actually having fun. In other words, they are having fun and just refuse to admit it!

I was a single parent for many years and just didn't have the money for family vacations requiring hotel stays and admission fees. I guess I followed in my mother's footsteps in hoping that a visit out of town would suffice. And it did. For many years, the family vacation consisted of a visit to a dear friend or family member's home who was willing to put up with four kids for a week. These are truly "beloved friends and family!"

I am fortunate to have a good friend for life who has two children within the same age group as my kids. Since we didn't get to visit often throughout the year, these visits were exciting for both my kids and hers who had become good friends.

So, by all means plan to visit a family member's, or friend's, home for a week. Young children especially enjoy these trips. They make new friends and the family ties are strengthened. This is an excellent way to reinforce family values and the importance of keeping in touch with family members that may live some distance from your home.

Do a little research before you go. Find out if there are any museums, historical sites, low cost attractions, or state parks within driving distance from where you'll be staying and plan to visit. Remember to ask the family member or friend you are visiting if they have any suggestions. Since they live in the area, they will most likely be aware of popular spots. Ask about bowling, roller skating, or special movie nights in the area and plan accordingly. You can even plan some game or craft activities to keep everyone busy and having fun.

For those of you who have worn out your welcome or simply don't have family within a reasonable distance, finding vacation spots that will provide a memorable experience for everyone in the family can be a challenge. Especially on a tight budget. Don't be discouraged, it is not impossible. Plan for your vacation and include it in your budget. This is the easiest way to prepare for a vacation expense and take the stress out of planning.

Wherever you go, whatever you do, don't lose sight of the value of a family vacation. Be sure to schedule quality time together no matter what your destination. Be safe and enjoy!

Blogs Can Be For Family Too! - Internet

Blog is the hot word on the internet in recent years, and with good reason: they are taking over the internet and information exchange as we know it. As you may or may not know, blog is short for web log. It is an online journal that can be about anything or anyone with topics ranging from personal reflection to political news to sports. Of what value is a blog to you, though? Family blogs are becoming increasingly popular because of the way they allow you as a family to keep up with members all over. You can keep members of your family that are located anywhere in the world up to date on happenings in your immediate family including births, deaths, and even marriages. In addition, a family blog is just a good way to get down the things that happen in the day to day life of your family. If you are considering a family blog, then there are some things you should probably pay attention to. Here are a few tips on how to maintain a good family blog.

The first thing to keep in mind with your family blog is safety. A blog may seem safe enough since it is nothing more than words on a web page, but keep a few things in mind. First of all, once you put something up on a blog, it becomes essentially public. Always remember that before you post anything anywhere on the internet, blogs included. Along those same lines, make sure you limit anything that may give readers a hint as to where you live specifically, or any personal information about your children or family in general. Keep addresses, phone numbers, and even email addresses off of the blog because you never know who is looking. Keep safety in mind first, and you are well on your way to a fun and successful family blogging experience.

Once you understand the safety needed with your family blog, you can start adding content. Your content doesn't have to be anything in particular. Your blog is whatever you want it to be. Keep it updated regularly, though. The reason is that you want to keep those who you want reading the blog doing so with regularity. If you are not updating it regularly, they may stop checking in and that defeats the purpose of your family blog. You want to keep fresh news, ideas, and information that will keep your distant family members reading regularly and with interest. Also, you may want to have some sort of schedule. For instance, you always update on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. That way the readership knows when to check in for new news and information on your family. It will also keep you focused if you have some sort of schedule to go along with it.

Some blog applications include a board for readers to write messages to you or to discuss what is in your blog. If that is the case of the blog you are choosing, then you owe it to your readers to keep an eye on it. If they are posting questions or comments, make sure you are regularly acknowledging or addressing them. If you are working on a family blog, then many of these messages will be from family members that are located far away and so will be a good way to stay in contact with them. Even if they are not family members, your readers will have gained an interest in what you are reading so, with safety in mind, you should still acknowledge them and their questions and comments.

Blogs have become all the rage on the internet in recent years. If you want to get in on the craze, a family blog can be a fantastic way to do just that. A family blog is a great way to keep other family members and far away friends up to date on the happenings within your family as well as some of your personal thoughts and feelings on any number of things. However, there are a couple of tips you should keep in mind as you work on your family blog. Make sure that you are safe and smart with personal information, update regularly, and acknowledge responses to your family blog. Follow these simple tips and you should be able to fully enjoy your family blogging experience.

Family - The Basic Social Unit - Family

Family is the basic social unit. Family represents people living together by ties of marriage, blood or adaptation, thus representing a single household. According to sociology, the family has the primary function of reproducing society; biologically, socially, or both. There are various structures of a family based on the relationship shared between the parent and the children. The different types of family are patrifocal, where the family consists of a father and his child; matrifocal, where the family consists of a mother and her child. Consanguineal family is one which consists of the mother, the child and other people, mainly belonging to the family of the mother. The conjugal family consists of one or more mothers and their children, with other people and one or more spouses.

The parent-child relationship varies due to different cultures. One of the prominent forms is the nuclear family. It consists of the marital pair living with their offspring separately. The joint family is an extension of the nuclear family. Joint family occurs when children of one sex live at their parents' house. In a joint family, the children bring along their spouse to live with them at their parents' house after marriage. A joint family usually consists of an older man and his wife, his sons and unmarried daughters, his sons' wives and children. Members of a joint family share all the task of trade, food gathering and preparation and child rearing.

Children who share one parent but not another are called "half-brothers" or "half-sisters". Children who do not share parents, but whose parents are married, are called "step-brothers" or "step-sisters". Similarly, if a person is married to the parent of a child, but is not the parent of the child themselves; they are called "stepfather" or "stepmother".

A complex family involves more than two adults. It refers to any extended family or to polygamy of any type. A joint family is also known as a complex family. The parents and their children in a joint family live together under a single roof. In a joint family setup, the womenfolk are often housewives and cook for the entire family. The patriarch of the family is usually the oldest male member, who lays down the rules of the family. This kind of setup is fast eroding in many parts of the world. Almost all the urban families are switching over to the nuclear family society.

Bring Your Family Home To The Internet - Internet

Are you concerned about the mental, emotional and physical distress being placed on your family by our society? Actually, you should be! The family is clearly the most important unit in our society. However, it is well recognized that the family is in a negative down spiral. The social environment in which we live is turning our families into a complex unmanageable organization.

Statistics and facts show the family being overwhelmed by uncontrollable circumstances. Money Management for example; there is never enough. The credit cards are overdrawn. You just bounced another check. You need to pay for school lunches-again. How does the young family manage on such a small income? Rent costs are out of sight. Inflation is settling on everything we purchase. How can we cope with the high price of gas?

Do you have a solution? Not likely. But there is a change needed. Maybe we need a new approach and outlook on life.

"You've got to win in your mind before you can win in your life." - John Addison

Actually this just might be the right place and time to make changes to our baseline strategy of managing our families. Now consider this very real fact for a moment.

Husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, parents, children really CAN manage their lives! You really can care for you family properly IF you can get just a little have help from friends. Think about it for a moment. If information is needed about how to manage a family where else would one go? The internet of course! There are incredible amounts of information on any subject you might have in mind. That is literally an ocean of products available at your finger tips. Really!

However, the internet is such a massive collection of products and data the average individual has no idea of how to use it properly. But the solution is rather simple. If we can't take the family to the information why not bring the products and information to the family --- via the internet.

For instance let us put all the "products" and "help" into one place, i.e., a family oriented user friendly website. A website where you can go for one stop stopping for the information and merchandise needed for the family. Now you CAN save time and money! Now you have access to the information that might help you manage your family.

We are talking about a website that does more that just sell and run. The internet website we are talking about is a holistic family website with your family interest in mind. It is true the website would provide access to carefully selected merchants that will fulfill family shopping requirements. But if you have a family problem that needs immediate attention the website would provide access to those ebooks, documents, and links that will provide immediate help and guidance to you. AND if you cannot find exactly what you need on the website a search of the entire internet would be available for ebooks, links, document and other information. More importantly the information must be downloadable in digital form for immediate access.

A website to be of service to the family must do more than sell a product, take the money and disappear. It must supply additional functions to maintain health and well being for you and your family.

Can your family read? Of course they can! Let us rephrase this last question. Does your family read? If not why not? There are unlimited FREE downloadable ebooks, magazines, articles and other publication (any type you want) on the internet. Do you know what the top 100 downloaded ebooks were last week? You will on the family imall. Any classic work you desire is usually a free download. You can LISTEN to many popular books with free down loadable Audio eBooks? There is a fantastic selection on the internet. If you need additional documents or information you can search the entire internet with advanced ebook/ezine search pages. There are over 10,000 ebooks at you disposal. Do you suppose this would be more beneficial than 10 hours of TV violence every day for you family?

In order to stay current with the world there must be FREE informational news downloads and news letters to keep you informed. In order to save on the cost of gas you can keep abreast of the merchant national sales promotions from the current sales webpage. In addition for your convenience we have a website category directory page with many day to day informational functions. This includes a search page, news & weather, with much more

Are you interested in saving money through competitive shopping for you family? At the family imall all merchants are brought into one website for your convenience. You do not have to drive for hours just to get to each merchant. Also keep in mind anything you purchase from any of the merchants on the internet is delivered to your front door. In addition, there are 'specialty ishops' to cater to the popular needs of the family. When you become part of a family oriented website you seldom have to leave your home to shop.

If you 'bring your family home to the internet' you will be able to find and have access to what is required to manage a family. A family mall is about Internet honesty and morality. It is a website where a family member can go for an honest no scam internet deal. It is more than just selling. It is about sharing. It is about being of assistance in times of distress and in good times.

It is about your family.

Family Systems Therapy - Health - Fitness

At its basic foundation, family systems theory holds that clients with any mental health diagnosis, addiction or substance abuse disorder, can be more effectively treated if we take their relationships with their families into consideration. The client's family system, be it functional or dysfunctional, is an important component to address when treating someone in recovery. Without information on the family history and dynamics in which an individual is a part, treatment is incomplete. While family work clinician's focus is on the family unit or system, they do not de-emphasize the importance of dealing with the internal states of the individual. Family system's approaches broaden the scope of assessment and interventions to provide best practice methods for their clients.

In assessing a client's presenting problems, a family system's oriented practitioner will be interested in a person's current living situation, life experiences and what the client sees as his/her problem. As an example, here's how therapists may initially assess from a focus on the individual versus an assessment from a family systems perspective.

Maria has come to an agency that provides services for recovering alcoholics. A counselor in individual therapy may inquire about Maria's perspective or cognitions about her alcoholism. A therapist from a family or systemic orientation would not only examine Maria's self-identifications but her cultural and intergenerational family experiences around alcohol as well. The individual- focused therapist would begin therapy with Maria alone. A family systems counselor may include the client's parents, siblings or any other person(s) Maria may want to involve. Overall, the family-oriented therapist will want to explore how systems, from a micro to macro level, may be a part of Maria's perception and hence problem with alcoholism. This enables the practitioner to find explanations beyond the client's personal identification with their substance misuse. The therapist will want to understand how Maria's alcoholism affects the family and how it is or was integrated into and is bein g maintained by family relational patterns. This broad look into Maria's life will enable the counselor to provide a more unified and effective intervention plan.

While there are many styles or schools of thought and practice in family systems therapeutic interventions, most experts will agree that although they may operate or approach "family work" differently, practitioners should use the approaches that best benefit the client. Clinicians should also consider their comfort level and expertise in choosing a method of family therapy. The psychodynamic, intergenerational and family-of-origin approaches focus almost exclusively on the client's past. Strategic, Structural, Cognitive-Behavioral and the Psycho educational modalities deal with the present and its influences on the client with little thought to the past. One of the most familiar and focused on the here and now methods of family systems therapy is the Experiential-Humanistic approach.

Experiential therapeutic methods are implemented so that a client can explore actualization, choice, freedom and growth. The focus is on the present interactions between the family and the therapist as opposed to exploring past experiences. The therapist's characteristics and sense of self is an integral component in using this approach. Growth is assumed to be a natural process and that painful experiences are a part of life. Experiential family therapists (EFT) working with clients suffering from drug addictions or substance abuse, believe that these dysfunctional behaviors are actually the failure of a person to realize their potential for personal growth.

The goal of the EFT is to assist clients towards growth of self. By working towards spontaneity, bringing their creativity to light and learning how to play again, the client will hopefully begin to realize their potential. A good place to get more information on treatment centers that practice experiential therapies is The main goal of any experiential family therapy is to facilitate individual autonomy and bring all family members a sense of inter-connection or belonging. Another goal is to help the family encourage each of the other family member's individuation. In the case of substance abuse or drug addictions, if the whole family (or as many as you can get to participate) become healthy and functional, the chances are the client will be able to maintain sobriety. At a minimum, a healthy family can become an excellent support system for the recovering addict/alcoholic. EFT relies on the use of empathy, joining, and interactions in an attempt to assess the dynamics of the family and hence to bring experiences that will lead the family to change.

Experiential therapy places a high value on the therapist being authentic and real. Since this approach relies heavily on the therapist's personal self-awareness and rarely on a rigid technique, a clinician must be willing to participate in personal therapy sessions. The professional that has done their own work (so-to speak) and has learned what they will eventually facilitate or teach to a family, can only make them more effective. I find it quite odd that many therapists or professional counselors do not agree with this. Academic training will never be enough to make us the most effective clinicians we can be.

Use of family systems therapy allows the professionals in guidance and counseling to gain a greater understanding of their client's life or current problem. Individual therapy is effective and should never be discounted. It is in engaging the families in the therapeutic process that will help you gain a better insight into your client's mental health or substance abuse disorder and guide you to employing the most effective interventions. The best we can provide for our clients is what being a professional mental health clinician is all about.

The leadership challenges in family businesses - Business - Management

Increasingly, the success of businesses, depends on the quality of leadership throughout, and especially from the top. Yes, you need good management disciplines and skills to ensure that things run effectively. However, on its own they will not be enough. This article looks at some of the key leadership challenges which are faced in organisations, with specific points which affect family businesses.

One simple but profound truth is emerging from the worlds' most successful organisations:

Directing/ leading an organisation is different from managing one.

It is no longer sufficient to take specialist managerial skills into the boardroom. So, what is the difference? Simply put:

Leadership - ("Leaders do the right things")Leadership is the development of vision and direction, setting a course that gives a sense of common purpose. Leadership is about inspiring, involving, persuading and motivating people to follow the cause and achieve the vision.

Management - ("Managers do things right")Management is about getting things done. It requires coordination of resources to achieve a defined end result (objective or target) with and through people. It is the science of continuous improvement.

"The task of the leader is to get his or her people from where they are to where they have never been."Henry Kissinger

As Warren Bennis says in "On Becoming a Leader", "managers operate within the culture" and "leaders create the culture."

Over the years, there have been many really good examples of successful family run businesses. Certain national and regional cultures seem to have more than others. Asian families have created many successful enterprises, both in their own countries and when they have moved and settled in other lands. Within the Middle East and Turkey, I have worked with a number of dynastic, family-owned organisations, from conglomerates to mid-sized operations. These often have a further characteristic of being strongly hierarchical, which has worked within local culture until now. Arguably, they may need to look at this in the next few years. Europe and the UK have had their own success stories, and we had a large number which started out in the days of the Industrial Revolution and through Victorian times. There are many companies still operating today which owe their existence to the beliefs and drive of the early industrialists who were often very philanthropic and also paternalistic . Some of these were enlightened enough to move with the times, others faded as they failed to adapt to different expectations from customers and staff. What are the specific issues for family businesses? There are some key challenges:

One of the dimensions to be addressed is which family members are involved and what are the plans, or opportunities, for others to join the business? If they can come in, what is their role going to be? The challenge of managing the relationships in and out of the workplace can be a source of tension at times. There needs to be some methodology for keeping these two aspects totally separate to reduce potential friction which can then lead to deeper problems within the family. Where there is a variation in the shareholding, be careful to not let the majority votes dominate, causing resentment. It might be sensible to have a more limited number of voting shares with an equal distribution, or to have something in the constitution about decisions needing a consensus. Remember, if people feel that they have been walked over or put down, resentments can last a long time! Also, family members who are uninvolved or less involved with the business need to not feel left out or remot e from the others. Nor should they be asked to take sides in any business discussions or differences as this will create long-term problems.

When it comes to managing and leading the business: in many cases, though certainly not all, there is a lack of investment in developing the people at the top - especially in leadership skills. The leaders of the business have to create the vision and mission, identify and define the values of the organisation. These need to become part of the fabric of the organisation - and the family have to "walk the talk" to demonstrate their integrity and commitment to them. Out of this comes the culture - and strength of culture will often dictate success of business performance. (One of my main areas of work at present, is with organisations, helping them to measure the culture and to implement the specific actions to enhance it.) I can think of one family run business in the UK which acquired several other companies in a short space of time, looked to reduce headcount in the new operations AND expected a salary cut from the remaining employees. Were the directors cutting the salar ies? Certainly not!

Businesses face a challenge of growth, at whatever level. The executives need to provide the strategic direction and have a plan to achieve it. This strategy needs to be aligned with the family desires and vision too. Recognise the strengths and limitations amongst the people running the business, ensuring any senior staff outside the family are given equal weight for their input. If you have gaps, consider using support from outside the family or top team. This could come from further down the organisation or using an external person. (On that subject - if you do not have a non-executive director, it is worth considering having someone to be this sounding board, mentor and guide.)The challenge for successful family run businesses is to recognise when they need to bring in support from outside the family and another is how they adapt their leadership style and approach as they move into positions of more responsibility. They have to let go of more of the detail and day to day operational issues and move to providing the strategic direction and thinking and learn to lead through others.

One of the issues I see with some of the family owned organisations I work with outside of the UK is the frustrations of the people who are not part of the family. They feel as though their prospects for growth and development are limited, that other family members will be brought in over them or fast-tracked ahead of them, or that they cannot influence their bosses. This can be OK for a while, but there comes a time when it can be a serious demotivator. The leaders need to recognise this and learn to do something to reduce or prevent it. If, for various reasons, there is no chance for people to make it to the top of your organisation because it will stay within the family, there will be a limit to just how much even the brightest, most ambitious person will contribute. You may want to question this overall policy, and ask whether it is short-sighted? Your relationships with the people who work for you are the key to achieving your strategy and both business and personal a ims. So, look at how well you communicate with the workforce and is it open? Are people encouraged to approach the "bosses" with ideas, concerns or complaints? Do the same standards of performance apply to everyone? Are people promoted on merit rather than family tree? Do you have a good performance appraisal or review process to keep communication flowing?

Remember, you do not have a divine right to respect as a leader - respect is earned. (In my experience, usually by respecting the other party first.)

A leader is best when people barely know heexists, not so good when people obey and acclaim him, worse when people despise him.

Fail to honour people, and they will fail to honour you.

Be a good leader who talks little, has done his work, fulfilled his aim.......... they will say

"We did it ourselves"LAOTSE (Chinese Philosopher, 500 years B.C.)

Businesses usually need to adapt to change, either proactively or reactively. This is a challenge in most organisations, regardless of ownership. However, within family owned businesses the key challenges outlined above are still present, with the extra pressures they can exert. Frequently, family businesses do not tackle change issues proactively. They often want to preserve the status quo or follow the plan which is in place. To be proactive, they need to look at what is happening in the market, where are the threats and opportunities? From here, they need to convince the other family members first, before starting on the change programme. This can be a problem. Then there are the "usual" change management and change implementation challenges which face any manager or leader.

Family businesses face the same challenges for their leadership as any other organisation, privately or publicly owned. They need good, strong leadership. Their situation is different because of the additional dynamics within the family and workforce which require extra skills to handle effectively. Those of you running family businesses need to continually develop your own abilities as leaders, strategic thinkers and directors - and also work on your communication and influencing skills to keep people alongside your vision and strategy while being able to put yourself in their shoes.

Secrets to Running a Successful Family Cleaning Business - Business

Copyright 2006 The Janitorial Store

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, family businesses are not only common, but contribute to more than 60 percent of the U.S. Gross Domestic Product. Your cleaning business may fall into this realm as many new businesses rely on help from a spouse, siblings, children and even parents. The upside to a family business is that the individuals know one another and can identify their strengths and weaknesses. There is also a general feeling of trust and loyalty between family members, which helps them get through rough spots. However, a family business can also bring about much frustration between family members and non-family employees.

For any small business owner it can be tough to keep "work at work" and "family matters" at home. This is even tougher if you work with family members. If you are not careful, your cleaning business can easily slide over from work hours into your private family time. As the lines between family and business become blurred you will find your attention diluted and this may prevent your business from reaching its full potential.

What are some common problems that family run businesses are likely to run up against?

- Giving family members jobs they are not qualified for

- Giving family members too much responsibility and not enough authority

- Allowing parents to evaluate children's work performance

- Paying family members more than non-family members for the same job

- Treating family members as "family" on the job and not as colleagues

- Constantly discussing business at family gatherings Ignoring mistakes because they are caused by a family member

- Giving family members special perks because of who they are instead of how well they perform their job duties

How can you keep your cleaning business running efficiently when you have family members as employees?

First and most importantly, separate your family life and business life as much as possible. Once the time clock is running employees should not address family members as "dad", "mom", "uncle" or "son". Second, although it can be difficult it is important to separate the family part of your life from the business. Some family businesses have found it helpful to have three separate areas:

1. The home, where only family issues are addressed

2. The business location, where only business issues are addressed

3. A neutral area - where a mix of family and business issues are addressed.

It helps if your business has a clear chain of command that both family and non-family members, have to follow. An employee manual can be helpful here as it can spell out not only the "chain of command" but other important guidelines that apply to all employees.

Your business should also have a written plan of how to accomplish your goals and what happens when key players of the organization decide to retire leave the company. It's also important to keep good communication between family members and non-family employees.

Having loyal and dedicated family members as a part of your cleaning business can give you the support and encouragement to take your cleaning business from a part-time endeavor to a successful company. Keeping family and business separate is difficult but necessary if you want your cleaning business to grow and succeed. Following a few simple guidelines can help you keep your family life intact and keep your cleaning business on a professional level.

How to Switch from an iPhone to an Android Phone - Technology

Are you thinking of giving up your iPhone for one of the new slick Android phones? If so, go with one of the new powerhouse Droid Smartphones. You will wonder why you waited so long to switch. I suggest going for a 4-inch or 4.3-inch LCD, a 1GHz or greater processor, and a high-resolution screen. That way you will know you have upgraded from the iPhone rather than settling for something less. Make sure it runs on at least the Android 2.2 OS and is Adobe Flash friendly. That is one of my main objections to the iPhoneit doesnt support Adobe Flash. There are many websites out there that use Flash, and the iPhone doesnt cut it. The HTC Inspire 4G on AT&T, the Samsung Galaxy S 4G for T-Mobile, the HTC EVO 4G for Sprint, and the Motorola Droid X or HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon are all great choices.

Change your home screen. Unlike the iPhone, the Android Smartphones are all capable of customizing the home screen. Dont just use the standard icons and widgets that come with the phone. Instead, put your favorites on the front screen. Its really easy to do. All you have to do is touch a blank spot on the screen and hold it there for a moment. A dialog box pops up and asks what you want to put there. You simply choose your favorites and voila! You have a customized screen. You can also change the background image easily.

Take advantage of the cloud server. The Google Cloud Server is used for Gmail, Google Docs, Google Contacts, etc. It is so handy to be able to access all your contacts on your computer as well as your Droid phone, without having to plug into your computer to sync up the device. And speaking of syncing, with the Android OS you are not tied to just iTunes to transfer files as you are with the iPhone. On the Droid phones you can swap out a microSD card, drag and drop using the USB connection, or use wireless syncing with Double Twist (another app). If you have lots of music in your iTunes, you will need to download the iTunes Plus (unprotected) to move them over to the Droid phone, but then its smooth.

One of the drawbacks to the Droid is the battery life. However there are ways to work around that. I downloaded an app called Advanced App Killer that lets me choose which apps are running in the background. Another tip is to disable the GPS unless you need to use it. Searching for Wi-Fi also drains the battery, so unless you are going to be using the Wi-Fi at a Hot-Spot, turn it off. You can always access it just by touching the widget on the home screen. The other plus to having an Android Smartphone is that most of them have the option of buying an extended battery. The iPhone wont even let you change batteries yourself. You have to send it to Apple to have it changed. An extended battery can double the talk time of your Android phone. For example, the HTC Incredible extended battery is 2700mAh while the HTC Incredible battery that came with the phone is only 1300mAh.

Use the free Google Maps GPS Navigation. Not only does it have voice-enabled and turn-by-turn navigation, but according to an article by Jamie Lendino, PC Magazine, you can see animated satellite views, realistic street views of destinations, and a voice input mode that recognizes complex instructions like navigate to the museum with the Picasso exhibit in San Francisco. "

Have a favorite iPhone app? If you browse over to the Android Market, you will most likely find its equivalent theremaybe even for free. In addition, there are tons of apps that will let you give voice commands to your Android phone (and they really work.)

Ready to Switch?

Rabbit.TXT

Rabbit

Timid and attractive, the Rabbits of the Chinese Zodiac tend to act more like bunnies, whether they like it or not! This Sign is extremely popular and has a wide circle of family and friends. Its compassionate nature leads it to be very protective of those it holds dear, but where romance is concerned, the Rabbit's sentimentality can lead it to idealize relationships. The sweet, sensitive Rabbit often ends up giving more of itself to a partner than is realistic or healthy. The good news is, when this Sign goes off-balance, the Rabbit's core group of friends and its stable home life help bring it back to center.

The Rabbit is a rather delicate Sign that needs a solid base in order to thrive. Lacking close, supportive friends and family, the Rabbit might just break down in tears at the first sign of conflict. Emotional upsets in this Sign's life can even lead to physical illnesses. Rabbits dislike arguments and other conflict and will try anything to avoid a fight; this results in something of a pushover nature. Rabbits can also lapse into pessimism and may seem stuck in life -- often to mask their insecure natures. Rabbits tend to move through life's lessons at their own, rather contemplative pace; it's a waste of time to become exasperated with this Sign's seeming disinterest in facing its problems and conquering them.

With the right partner -- meaning someone whose high principles won't allow it to take advantage of this sensitive, giving Sign -- the Rabbit can make an incredibly loving and protective partner or family member. Rabbits love to entertain at home and always make sure their house is comfortable and tastefully-furnished. What Rabbits need most is a stronger sense of self-worth and the security that comes with it. Their discerning natures, coupled with some hard-won assertiveness, will help these happy creatures go far.

The most compatible match for a Rabbit is the Goat or the Pig.

Unique Wholesale Wedding Gifts

As more couples live together before walking down the aisle, outfitting an entire home is becoming something of the past for wedding guests. Many couples don't need the blenders, knives, bedding, or other home gifts. The opportunity to give a unique wedding gift has never been more welcome, and most can be found at a local wholesale retailer. For a true deviation from the registry list, try these unique wholesale wedding gifts this wedding season.

Sporting Equipment

The war on obesity is on! Dietitians and nutrition experts recommend couples engage in exercise activity together. Wholesale sporting equipment is a wedding gift that not only encourages more quality time as a couple, but is also an investment into the happy couple's health. Both indoor and outdoor wholesale sporting equipment fit the bill. The best wedding gifts will consist of wholesale sporting equipment the bride and groom are interested in, or have expressed a previous interest in attempting.

Home Security

Wholesale home security products can give a newly wedded couple peace of mind. Home security products are wide and varied, from wholesale keypad door locks to overstock outdoor flood lights. Another aspect of home security frequently overlooked is the emergency preparedness kit. Items like wholesale batteries, liquidated flashlights, and shelf-pulled dry goods are true lifesavers during inclement weather or a home accident such as fire.

Wall Art

One area new couples struggle with is setting aside resources for decor. Nothing makes a house feel like a home than inviting images and artwork on the bare walls. Wholesale artwork and liquidated prints are perfect ways to provide impressive wall art without the impressive wall art price. If selecting a specific print or wholesale artwork, opt for a liquidated wall mirror instead. Smaller apartments and rooms are opened up by the strategic use of wholesale mirrors, and can operate as a window imitator.

As with any wedding gift, intimate knowledge of the couple increase the likelihood the gift will be well received. Unique wholesale wedding gifts allow a guest's gift to stand out, and also bring a new dimension to the newly wedded life of the bride and groom. Wholesale sporting equipment will keep the happy couple active long after the honeymoon. If the home is a fortress, help the new husband and wife keep it protected with wholesale home security products. Finally, bring an aspect of warmth to even the smallest of homes with a wholesale piece of wall art or a liquidated wall mirror.

All things considered, close friends of the new family should really take some time before choosing a present for their happily married friends because a gift is a very intimate gesture that expresses feelings in a subtle manner so it is highly advisable to pick the right one because there is only one chance of getting it right, you know what they say, better safe than sorry. Many wholesale wedding gifts companies have a site on the Internet so it is recommended to start looking there first. Good luck !

Spy Cameras - How Are They Used And Why

You usually only hear about spy cameras being used in the movies. However, in the real world they are used for good and bad purposes. When they are used for security they can help catch criminals. There are people who will use spy cameras for their own selfish and bad reasons that are illegal. Let me explain what I mean.

There have been many options available through the times for protecting society from people who are breaking the law. However, with the proliferation of computers, complex political and social systems and industrialization there is a greater need for a heightened level of security. The police and military will continue to protect us from the criminals and terrorists of the world.

However, there are also individuals that use other security services and private investigators to conduct their own investigations and to protect their families, properties and businesses. They use modern surveillance to help them protect what they feel strongly about. You will continue to see more and more houses that are equipped with spy cameras so that the families that live there can continue to be safe and to warn them of suspicious individuals.

Spy cameras have become a more frequent method to use when you are trying to protect your home or business. These cameras are also known as a hidden spy camera, wireless spy camera or a wireless mini spy camera. These cameras are very small and can't usually be detected unless you know that they are there.

The police and private investigators use them to help provide them with valuable leads and information that will help them catch the people who are breaking the law. They are also used to provide the courts with hard and accurate evidence against the criminals. The video from a spy camera doesn't lie and thus they are relied upon to help get criminals convicted. They are also great for helping to alarm us of robberies and crimes before they are actually committed.

Most of the time these cameras are used in places that require a lot of security to protect their businesses and the customers of their business. Some of these places are banks, casinos, airports (to spot any crimes of terrorism), military facilities and even ATM's. These are just a few of the places that they are used.

They are also used in private homes to protect children and the elderly citizens. People like to know that their loved ones are being protected and not abused. So they use a spy camera to help them determine that everything is as it should be in their homes. These cameras are also called nanny spy cameras, digital spy cameras, pinhole spy cameras and wearable spy cameras.

There are people however that will use them for blackmail and prostitution. These are the people who are using them for illegal purposes. They are the ones that the police are trying to protect society against.

You want to make sure that you know what spy cameras are being used for and make sure that you don't use them illegally. It is always a good idea to talk to a lawyer to find out what the laws are concerning these types of cameras.

Security Services in London.

If the businesses hiring the security company do not feel they are getting good service then you can expect they will be much more open to the next security company sales person who offers a slightly lower price for the same basic purported services.

Your security company holds a great deal of responsibility and if your instincts are telling you that they are not the right company for the job, it is time to begin an intensive search for a new home security company.

Of course all this makes perfect sense to you and yet you are asking how can we improve customer service? You can also offer to meet with the owner of the company or branch manager every two-weeks and see if everything is fine or if there are additional needs to be addressed and if so take those items and put them inside the security vehicles assigned to that site or on the clip board of the usual driver or security guard.

With all the attention given to security these days it

Why Not Try A Natural Cure For Your Asthma

Have you been off work because of your asthma? Does it get worse at certain times of year or under stress? Are you worried that it's beginning to affect your job and limit your lifestyle?

Just one year ago, I found myself in a similar position. Here I was at home (again!) with a bad bout of asthma and concerned for the security of my job as this was my eighth day off with asthma that year. That found me searching the internet for a natural cure for asthma, researching the causes of asthma, how they relate to allergies (which I had as a child) and looking to see what medications and treatments were available. Fed up with taking increasing doses of blue and brown inhalers, that seemed to leave me dependent on medication I read around to see if anyone had found a successful method of controlling their asthma without medication.

If you've had asthma, you'll probably relate to the awful feeling when yet another attack comes on and your life is thrown into disarray. You may find that the doctors don't have time to discuss alternative treatments, but simply prescribe the usual inhalers at each visit, check your breathing and lung capacity and sign you off until the next visit.

What I found was both interesting and disturbing. The evidence was that much of our asthma today is induced by our modern world. The most concerning thing was that there is no incentive for the drug companies or the doctors to find a natural cure, as they're all making a considerable profit from the conventional inhalers.

Air Ambulance Service Coverage Makes a Great Benefit for Employees

Air Ambulance Service Coverage a Great Benefit for Employees

Big business today knows the value of a good employee. Good employees are getting harder and harder to find these days. Excellent workers are not only interested in great pay, but also in a fabulous benefits package. If you are looking for another terrific perk to add to the company's benefits package, it may be time to consider air ambulance service coverage.

Companies can receive excellent discounts on air ambulance service coverage costs for groups of employees. The cost can be covered exclusively by the employer, or paid partially by the employer and shared with the employee.

Air ambulance service coverage plans are not only affordable, but a fabulous benefit for business travelers. Most coverage plans require that the plan only be utilized when the patient is 150 miles away from home. If the company has numerous employees that travel from state to state or around the globe on business, then this just may be a benefit that should be added to the company's roster.

A medical emergency can't be planned. No one heads off on a business trip and expects to become ill or injured, but in reality, this may be the case. Should such a circumstance arise while an employee is away on business, it is important that they be able to return home as quickly as possible.

The cost of transportation by air ambulance can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $75,000 per trip. Air ambulance service coverage can be used anywhere around the globe. For a minimal annual or monthly fee, the air ambulance transportation cost can be minimized dramatically, or even reduced completely.

Employees will find this benefit to be a great offering from the company. Business travelers will want to protect themselves, their family, and their wallet while they are away on business and air ambulance service coverage is just the way to do it.

As you shop for coverage plans for your employees, be certain to compare prices closely. Read the fine-print on the plan and be cautious of several exclusions of coverage.

Some key issues to consider before signing up include the specific details of the coverage plan. For the best coverage, make sure that the air ambulance will arrive for pickup of the patient regardless of medical need. This will ensure that employees are transported safely back home to family and the hospital in the health insurance plan network.

The patient should be able to determine the final hospital destination. Employees who have a preference of a local hospital will truly appreciate this option.

Lastly, confirm that the air ambulance service coverage is not only nationwide, but global coverage. Making this determination will broaden the spectrum of opportunity for this valuable benefit. For companies with overseas travelers, this benefit will be extremely popular with the employees.

You know that securing excellent staff is essential to the well-being of the business. Salary and benefits packages are what bring the superior employees to you. Air ambulance service coverage is just one more fabulous benefit that your company can offer to your employees at a reasonable cost. Employees will value the benefit's protection to their family and their wallet. Companies that offer security to their employees have loyal workers for years to come.

Are You Living the Life You Imagined

* Do you feel strong, healthy, financially secure?

* Are you too busy working to take the time to make more money than you need just to 'get by'?

* Will you be in the same position five years from now?

So you've scoured the internet for a home business and are now totally confused, how do you separate the real diamonds from the fake?

Most business opportunity websites focus on money and success stories. Do you REALLY think that you can:

* make money with no investment of money, time or energy, or all three;

* make money legally without selling a product or service;

* make a thousand dollars between Friday and the weekend;

* trust someone who tricks you into reading a web page with a dishonest headline?

What YOU need to focus on is deciding what you want to do, so that you will recognize it when you find it.

You need to learn how to be just as insistent as those scam artists. Learn what it is that you're looking for, and never settle for less.

Here are some of the questions you need to ask in order to clarify exactly what you want.

What do you really want in life? No matter what your current situation, you need to look beyond those particular circumstances and decide what it is you ultimately want to achieve.

For example, you may have bill collectors calling you every day. Your automatic answer may be "I want them to go away, I want to be able to pay off my debts."

You need to look beyond that. What you really want is financial stability and security so you can do what you really want to do, whether it be charitable, recreational, etc.

Yes, you want to be your own boss, regulate and schedule your own time, and control your hours and income, but maybe you also want to work with others who will train you to be just as successful as they are.

Do you want to market on the internet, sell, host parties, take orders, deliver products, handle stocking, inventory, or money collecting? Do you want to work independently most of the time, or do you want to work closely every day with others.

Don't forget that there are many aspects of going to work for others that you may be overlooking because of current stresses or worries. Will you be content to sit at home alone in your home office day in and day out? Will you miss the commaraderie of conversations around the water cooler or over lunch?

Maybe you want to stay home with your young children. Will you miss having adult conversations?

What I'm suggesting here, is to look beyond the lure of the "quick dollar" and pay attention to the details of what you will actually be doing every day in any online business. If you don't see it in print, ask! Ask those who are already working the business. Ask the owner.

Maybe what you are looking for is what is called the intellectual distribution business. It's the next trillion dollar industry. It's all about educating consumers about products and services that will improve their lives, that they didn't even know existed; safer, healthier, more convenient alternatives to products and services they already need and use; it's about wholesale prices, ordering online or on the phone, and deliveries right to their door.

Do you also want a system you can just plug in to, simple enough for beginners? Even if you know nothing about personal websites, live online conference rooms, or how to identify prospects interested in your products or services, you want to be successful and to have those tools and talents at your disposal.

You have the will to learn and earn, the persistence and the ability to follow directions. If you are a beginner, you can expect to find a business that will train you completely for free.

Is-It-Worth-Buying-Affiliate-Software

Is It Worth Buying Affiliate Software?

Many of us dream of giving up our jobs and working for ourselves. Being your own boss can provide the responsibility level you want as well as the incentive to perform well. Running your own business usually mean lots of hard work but the rewards can be quite tremendous.

When it comes to starting a business, many people get scared. They worry about loosing that security that their job has provided. They also worry about the risk involved in starting your own business. The risk is worth considering being that anywhere from 70-90 % of all small businesses fail in the first year.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to work for yourself with minimal risk. When you work as an affiliate you usually sell a range of goods or services for profit. You will still have to work very hard to promote your business; however the financial risk to you is extremely low.

Many who have started their affiliate marketing businesses wonder about affiliate Software. They wonder if it is worth purchasing and what it can do for their particular business. The answer to theses questions lies entirely in the individual affiliate and the type of business that they have. However, there are some general things to try and consider before you shell out hundreds of dollars on affiliate software.

Before buying any software program, you need to apply some perspective. Software will not take a floundering company and get it into fortune 500. It is simply a tool to help you in various aspects of running a business. You will still have to do all of the hard work. The software will only help.

Once you have some perspective, then you need to list your companies needs. How are you at keeping accounts? Could you do better with software? Many people do purchase software to manage accounts for them. Especially when their businesses start to take off. Chances are you can do just as good of a job on your own but software will make it go much faster. You must keep in mind however, that software does take time to learn. However, once you have mastered it accounting software can help you keep track of your incoming money and outgoing at a much faster rate than if you were to do it yourself.

If you have a home based affiliate marketing business that is entirely internet based, you may want to consider website building software. Again, you may be able to do just as good of a job on your own. However, if you can

How to Improve Emergency Situations With Affordable Emergency Monitoring Systems

Elderly Healthcare Alert Report - It's no secret that the aging population is on an increase. And it's no secret that more adult children will be facing the challenges of caring for their elderly relatives, many of whom live in fear of living alone safely. What is a mystery to some, though, is that as aging issues become more a part of everyday life, what is being done to help? And what can be done?

So far, many leave safety up to the elderly themselves. However, this posses many challenges. For example, take into account three recent news cases.

FALLS - The first involved a 90-year-old woman found dead outside her home, at the bottom of a rock wall. Her nephew found her, and surmised that she had probably gone out looking for her cat in the evening and fallen, as her glasses were lying atop the wall. And unfortunately temperatures had dropped into single digits that night.

CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING - In the second case, 'Weird Al' Yankovic found his parents dead in their California home due to carbon monoxide poisoning. His dad was found in a chair, mother in on the bathroom floor, a wood fire had been recently going, the flue found closed.

FIRE - And in the third case, an 89-year-old man was found dead amidst a house fire in San Diego. He was known to often smoke cigars while relaxing in the part of the house were he was discovered.

In many cases, like the three above, home safety systems may have been able to prevent early deaths

"Home safety systems are a great low cost option for families to consider," said Steve Rowin, owner of Widescope security systems. "They preserve the independence that seniors want while providing safety and peace of mind for their family."

Widescope Security Systems provides the G.E. Caregard home safety system nationwide. And with the U.S. population age 65 and over expected to double in size within the next 25 years, as reported by the U.S. Census Bureau (SeniorJournal.com 2005), that's important. In fact that translates to 1-out-of-5 Americans - or approximately 72 million people - aging by 2030 and in possible need of help in emergency situations, but not getting it. Especially for those aged 85 and older, the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population, life threatening situations need to be taken more seriously.

When given a chance, most people would opt to go to a place where they can have peaceful surroundings. Off to the world's most famous beach

In the recent past spring breakers would flock the beach every single day, but since there is a shortage of services that can be offered at times because of the overwhelming demand, some would flock to Panama City instead.

Still, the city and its beaches continues to attract over 8,000,000 tourists each year not to mention businesses So far Daytona Beach is also the home to some hotels, motels, condominiums and houses that line up along the beach front. Competition has allowed a wide variety of price range, most of the year the hotels and motels are typically fully booked except during special events, where they make room for more guests.

Daytona Beach is also known for its high security measures around its main hotel locations, some are armed with multiple cameras for filming hotel and beach areas. Daytona Beach is one of the few places in the world where a family car can be used on an ocean beach. Most other driving beaches require 40-wheel drive or other special equipment.

But, what really makes the Daytona Beach an ultimate adventure destination aside from the "Speedweeks"

Download Netflix Videos - Law

Now, however, Blockbuster, hurt by the emergence of the home delivered rental and the pay-per-view movie, is more than a billion dollars in debt.NetFlix pioneered the home delivered movie rental, an offshoot of the movie rental business, in 1999. NetFlix now offers more than 100,000 TV show and movie titles from their library. Vudu, TiVo, Apple's iTunes, NetFlix, and Amazon.com currently offer video content via a broadband Internet connection. However, the number of movies in the download libraries is a bit less than the DVD libraries, with about 10,000 movies now available for download on NetFlix. Most of the services are either offering movies in HDTV format, or planning to do so soon. Video quality is difficult to compare between the different services. The video compression algorithm, called a Codec, plays a significant role. The best objective method to compare signal quality is bit-rate. A comparison of bit-rate for some of the current online video alternatives:Servic e..... Bit-Rate (mbps)Vudu HDX.......... 9-20 Vudu HD................ 4 Xbox..................... 7 iTunes................... 4 Cable TV......... 10-15 Satellite.............. 6-8 Blu-Ray................ 40Prices are coming down for the equipment needed for these services. Vudu slashed the price of their set-top box to $99 for the 2008 Christmas season (from about $300), but $50 of movie credits needed to be purchased with the hardware.Kudos to Vudu for their online service. The interface has been compared to IMDB.com (a movie-buff website). You see an actor, select the resume, and you can see what other movies they've been in, and easily find your selection. It's makes the process absolutely pleasant.A significant downside of video downloads in the unavailability of recent releases. Movies are generally unavailable for at least a month after release, in order to protect the brick and mortar movie theater market. This is unlikely to change, at least in the near-term.Accordin g to Joshua Danovitz (TiVo), the issue of download limits differs in each country. In the United States and parts of Asia, bandwidth capacity is still available and Internet users have fewer constraints, while other countries, including Canada, the ISPs are starting to restrict users bandwidth consumption. The problem will only get worse with the increased popularity of video downloads. Today, more than half of Internet bandwidth utilization in the United States is peer-to-peer, and most of that is video download. Peer-to-peer traffic is notoriously hard to control. It is likely that the movie distribution business will follow the path blazed by the audio distribution business. The only reason for the time lag is that video files are much larger, and the Online capability was not yet ready.Google's Chrome browser is in news again. After the daily updates and improvements in the rival browsers, Google seems to have fastened improvements on its side. Microsoft's Silver-light so ftware is weary now, as it requires users to download and install it onto their computers. You guessed it right; the news is around about Netflix joining the Chrome plugin development category. It works with any AJAX-based website. While, you find out more on this OS, we will catch up with you offering details of the OS in our next.Back to PluginStories of Google Chrome plugin development is scattered in various areas.
